As awesome as”Skyfall” was, we will all have to sign a petition or collect our pocket change to bribe Sam Mendes to sign back on to direct Bond movie number 24, because he just announced that, after a long and arduous battle with his resume, he is passing the wand to another.
Sam told Empire Magazine that,
It has been a very difficult decision not to accept Michael [G. Wilson] and Barbara [Broccoli]’s very generous offer to direct the next Bond movie. Directing Skyfall was one of the best experiences of my professional life, but I have theatre and other commitments, including productions of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and King Lear, that need my complete focus over the next year and beyond.
How many times can you remake Charlie and The Chocolate Factory? Really!
