Okay, I am an avid foodie and one of my all-time favorite foods to eat is a true New York style pizza (sorry Chicago-style fans! Just not my thing). Only a select few things in life can me get salivating the way just thinking of how mozzarella and pepperoni marries in perfect harmony on my tongue when taking a bite out of a pie.
This type of flavor explosion and the resulting euphoria, shared by millions of people throughout the world, has led Pizza Hut Canada to try and bottle the emotion up – literally. And just in time for Christmas, they’ve released what they believe to be the perfect stocking stuffer for fans of pizza: Pizza Hut perfume.
I shit you not.
The company has released a limited time scent called Eau de Pizza Hut (natch). Pizza Hut Canada discussed the idea via a press release, stating:
All true celebrities deserve their own perfume and Pizza Hut is no different!
What began as a fun Facebook post – with Pizza Hut asking fans just how much they loved the smell of a box of Pizza Hut pizza being opened – has materialized into Pizza Hut becoming the latest celebrity to launch its own perfume.
Introducing Pizza Hut Perfume – a brand new fragrance from Pizza Hut Canada boasting top notes of freshly baked, hand-tossed dough.
“When our ad team at GRIP brought the idea to us, we absolutely loved it,” says Beverley D’Cruz, Marketing and Product Development Director, Pizza Hut Canada. “What better way to celebrate our Facebook fans than by providing them with a way to enjoy the fresh smell of Pizza Hut pizza whenever they want!”
The limited edition perfume was designed to commemorate Pizza Hut Canada reaching 100,000 Facebook fans. Only 110 bottles were produced and shared with lucky Facebook fans who won a bottle by being among the first to share their desire for Pizza Hut perfume.
Will we be seeing Pizza Hut perfume in department stores any time soon? According to D’Cruz, only time will tell.
“For now, we’ve only produced 110 bottles of Eau de Pizza Hut, but who knows what the future has in store,” says D’Cruz. “The good news is people can enjoy the great smell of fresh Pizza Hut pizza any day of the week by ordering one of our signature crust pizzas.”
Pizza Hut isn’t the first food chain to bottle the scent of their restaurants. Back in 2008, Burger King did the same thing when they launched Flame by BK.
So, if you were to splash some of this pizza perfume on yourself, would it make you hungry? Would you want to eat yourself? Would it make you gain weight if you were to wear it daily, because you’d have a constant appetite, even when you were stomach should be full?
And more importantly, just who in the hell would buy something like this?
