Jessica Alba Didn’t Like Being Objectified as a Sex Object
Oh, Jess, really? I’m reading this and it’s giving me a case of the bullshits, because if you didn’t have that body and that face, you wouldn’t be getting any “acting” roles. Let’s be honest – you’re not a very good actress.
In the June issue of Marie Claire, serious actress Jessica Alba reveals that when she was given the role of Max in Dark Angel (R.I.P. – I don’t care how cheesy it show was, I loved it and it was Alba’s best role to date), she as uncomfortable with the sexiness her character was supposed to portray:
“I had a show [Fox's Dark Angel] that premiered when I was 19,” Alba explains. “And right away, everyone formed a strong opinion about me because of the way I was marketed. I was supposed to be sexy, this tough action girl. That’s what people expected.”
Even when she dressed demurely, her killer body always took center stage. “I felt like I was being objectified, and it made me uncomfortable,” she concedes. “I wanted to be chic and elegant!”
Really? Because that role – and let’s be honest, your looks – were what launched your career. And your looks alone are what kept it going. Your being fap material for teenage boys during the early stages of your “acting” career years may be uncomfortable (I can see how it could inspire some “ick nast” feelings), but you should be grateful! You reached the A-list for years, and still reign in the B to B+ list – without doing a single movie that I ever stopped and thought ”Wow! Jessica Alba really nailed that role!”
Yeah, Into the Blue wasn’t exactly Oscar material, was it? No, it was an 90 minute long bikini commercial, so please, shut it.
