“The Simpsons” Will Air Episode 500 Tonight
“The Simpsons” will reach a huge milestone tonight when it airs episode # 500. Fans have been watching the show since 1989 when episode # 1 aired. The show was originally developed as a short on “The Tracey Ullman Show” in 1987 but was so well-received that they decided to spin it off into its own thing. That “thing” is now a mega legend.
Fox is as excited and proud of its show as anyone so to honor its big accomplishment, it held an 86-hour showing of “The Simpsons” and had people compete to see who could make it the longest. The winner took home a $10,500 prize. Fox also made it into the world record list for having the longest TV marathon.
Another fun fact about the 500th episode that will air tonight is that the show has had the same executive producer, Al Jean, since day one, which could be the reason that the show has been so healthy for such a long time.
Episode 500, which is titled “At Long Last Leave,” will air tonight at 8/7c on Fox. The episode will be about the day that the Simpsons are banned from Springfield and sent to a camp, because of Homer’s drunken escapades, Bart’s crazy behavior, and Lisa’s political and environmental soap box rants.
