Lana Del Rey’s Tour Canceled ON!

[updated at 4:51ET]

Those rumors about Lana Del Rey’s tour being canceled (which came from a report in this morning’s New York Post) are FALSE. In email to Idolator from Shore Fire Media PR, the firm that reps Lana, they state there was never a spring tour and the singer will still be hitting the circuit later this year!

Lana told MTV several weeks ago that she plans to tour in October. There has never been a spring tour announced or cancelled. Lana continues to perform in public and on TV. She gave a fantastic performance on Letterman last week; she will appear at the Amoeba in LA today, and the SF Amoeba on Thursday. She’s been extremely active in Europe as well in support of Born to Die, which is having historic first week sales.

This is great news for those who can’t wait to see Lana perform in an intimate setting!

It seems as if Lana Del Rey will not be perform at a venue near you just yet.  That’s because after her widely-panned performance on Saturday Night Live last month, “tour managers, booking agents and label heads at Interscope met” and decided it was best to pull the plug.

A source says, ”[Lana] and her manager decided to cancel after SNL. She was very upset.” However, “They figure it allows time for her to clear her head, then go back to selling tickets. More importantly, they figure, the extra time gives them more distance from SNL.”

Another insider claims that the fear was poor live performances from Del Rey would hurt album sales.

Lana was said to have 30 dates scheduled at small venues across the country, averaging between 1,000-3,000 seats.

At this time, Lana’s rep has yet to comment on if this is true or not.  However, it is, I completely understand the move by her team.  Going on tour now would seem a bit rushed for an artist who has really just come onto the scene.  If they take the time to cultivate her stage presences, she could have the slaying power of someone like Adele – and that’s worth the wait, to be honest.
