SAG Awards: Best and Worst Dressed
The Screen Actors Guild Awards was like any other stuffy Hollywood awards show, where the best part is the red carpet arrivals. We love “Oooh”ing and “Aaaah”ing at the gorgeous outfits…or take viscious pleasure in skewering the horrendous ones. So, let’s take a look at last night’s best and worst dressed and who wore what to the ceremony!
I admit, I was on the fence with this look. Amber Heard seemed to channel ScarJo at the SAG Awards last night with her hair and makeup choices. However, I really like this Posen gown with its barely there cutaways over the cleavage and at the waist.
For as much as I like Angelina Jolie (I can’t help it, I always have), I’m disappointed to see her return to her boring black dress roots. While I actually like the dress, I think it would’ve looked better on just about everyone else. On Jolie, it just emphasizes her frail frame and makes her look like Skeletor.
I love, love, love this look on Ashlee! The hair color, the style, the makeup – everything was done perfectly! This almost makes me forget her awkward dancing on her infamous SNL performance. Almost.
Diane Lane is flawless, as witnessed by last night’s gown. She keeps it simple but stunning in this cobalt blue frock from David Meister.
Dianna was pretty in pink last night with this lovely number from Carolina Herrera. She once again outshone co-star Lea Michele, who was a miss in Versace dress.
Don’t get me wrong – I think Elle Kemper is ugly. This dress, however, is a total “No” for her. It’s boring, and looks like something a Miss USA pageant contest would wore – and that’s not a good thing.
I love everything about this dress – it’s vibrant, sexy and elegant. With her coloring and figure, Emily looks absolutely divine!
Girl, I love you but no.
Gretchen Mol was absolutely stunning in this L’Wren Scott piece. By keeping it simple with only a gold cuff on her right wrist to set off the tone of the dress, the Boardwalk Empire actress was simply beautiful.
I want to like Jane Krakowski’s look, but I just can’t. If she were a few inches taller, I think this Berardi gown would’ve looked better.
Jane Lynch looks is absolutely elegant royal blue gown from David Meister – and the pockets are a wonderfully sophisticated touch!
This dress reminds me of the drapes from my Memaw’s house back in the 80′s. She had wood paneling on her walls and her living room set was dark brown wood trim with orange and white with flowers on it, so that’s telling you all you need to know of her taste right there.
This is one of my favorite looks from last night. Jennifer Carpenter absolutely rocked this Emilio Pucci dress. The red lace overlay sexed up an otherwise conservative cut from the designer. Matched with nude heels and loose locks, the effect was HOT!
The color of this Calvin Klein gown is gorgeous. But everything else about it? BORING!
And on the opposite end of Jessica Chastain’s “meh” Calvin Klein dress is this lovely ivory gown. There’s a reason Julianna Marguiles was trending Twitter last night – people were floored by how awesome she looked!
I honestly can’t get past Julie’s frame in this dress. She looks like the incredible shrinking woman! This Temperley London design makes Bowen look absolutely skeletal.
Holy Toddlers ‘n Tiaras, Kaley! What in prom night hell were you thinking when you chose this dress?!
I could’ve loved this dress, if I could get past that collar around Kristen’s neck. When I look at that thing, I can’t help but think that somewhere in the audience, another person has a matching collar – and if Kristen strays too far away from her, her collar will be activated and her head will blow up.
Hot damn, Kyra Sedgwick was on last night in this sexy Emilio Pucci gown. Once again, the designer takes a simple cut and gives it a bold red color to take the dress to the next level. The cutout waist really amped up the “wow” factor and accentuated that fact that Kyra has a sexier body than most girls half her age.
I want to like this dress – really, I do – but I just can’t. The top half is a total mess and reminds me of something a sorority sister would put together for a Toga party. The lower half isn’t bad, and neither is the color, but the top is so unflattering it’s hard to get away from it. Also, Lea Michele’s constantly aiming for ‘sexy’ on the red carpet is tiring. Just because it has a plunging neckline to your waist, or a slit up to your slit on the leg doesn’t mean you have to wear it. I’d like to see her try something different.
While the post-baby cleave that Maya Rudolph is damn impressive (girl WORK THEM CHI-CHIS!), this dress flatters nothing else on Maya.
This Valentino frock compliments Michelle’s coloring and style perfectly, and the effect was the very definition of “radiant.”
Naya Rivera looked stunned in Naeem Khan gown. The deep V-pluge was sexy but not over the top, and the intricate detail on the gown was sophisticated, but not busy.
Octavia Spencer sure knows how to dress in the most flattering of styles. This Tadashi Shoji Spring/Summer 2012 gown shows off The Help’s curves in all the right places, and I’m in love with wrap waist.
Rose Byrne rocked the jumpsuit look with this amazing Elie Saab outfit that has me green with envy. Do want!
Shailene Woodley’s L’Wren Scott gown was amazing, and while I usually side-eye clothes that red, white and blue (reminds me of wearing a flag), the colors together look fantastic here.
I am usually not a fan of ‘Meh’chesa, but I swear to God, Sofia Vergara could make a potato sack look sexy.
Tilda Swinton can do no wrong. Ever.
Tina Fey shines in this vintage Versace number.
Shocker – another star I really like in Mehchesa. But seriously, Viola Davis was one of the best-dressed of the evening.
