Phil Spector Is Appealing Murder Conviction to the Supreme Court
Before Phil Spector spent his days eating bologna sandwiches, he was a musical producer for Tina Turner, John Lennon, George Harrison, and the Ramones.
Phil Spector was convicted of second-degree murder of actress Lana Clarkson, who he shot in his home in February 2003. Spector’s first trial resulted in a hung jury; however the jury came back and convicted Spector in 2008 and was given 19-years to life in prison.
Spector appealed his sentence to the Court of Appeals in May 2011,which was affirmed. The California Supreme Court refused to review the Appeal Court’s affirmation of his sentence.
This all means that Spector’s final step of review is the United States Supreme Court.
If The Supreme Court either affirms the Appeal Court’s decision and therefore also affirms the sentence, or refuses to hear the case, Spector will be stuck behind bars, without his wig mind you, for a long, long time.
