Orson Welles’ Oscar for “Citizen Kane” Sold at Auction
The Oscar awarded to Orson Welles for his movie “Citizen Kane” sold at auction on Tuesday for $861,542!!!!
This Academy Award was, surprisingly, the only Oscar that Welles received during his career.
Welles died in Hollywood in 1985 of a heart attack; however during his life he was the director behind “The Magnificient Ambersons”, “Jane Eyre”, “MacBeth”, “Othello”, and the musical stage version of “Around the World in Eighty Days”. He also did a ton of voiceover work like in “Magnum P.I.” from 1983 – 1985 and “The Transformers: The Movie” (the 1986 version, which was obviously recorded before his sudden death).
Welles was married for five years to the beautiful actress, Rita Hayworth. The couple had one daughter together before they divorced.
