Guy Ritchie Calls Marriage to Madonna a “Soap Opera”
Guy Ritchie said in an interview with Details magazine that his marriage to Madonna was a “soap opera”. More specifically, he said:
I stepped into a soap opera, and I lived in it for quite a long period of my life. I’ll probably be more eloquent on it 10 years from now.
He also said:
When you end up with a lot of the things you set out to chase and find that you’ve stumbled into all sorts of hollow victories, then you become deeply philosophical. I’m quite happy that that experience was accelerated for me. I’m glad I made money, in other words. And I’m glad I got married.
So in conclusion, Guy Ritchie is glad he married Madonna so that he could have his children, make money, and have a lifetime of experiences in a short period of time. What he does not say he’s happy for is being with Madonna.
There’s some other really interesting parts of the interview that are worth mentioning. For instance, Guy admitted that when he was younger (15ish years ago) he smoked a lot of pot and drank a lot and “when I tried to give them both up, I thought I’d take up street fighting.” Because that’s the logical progression of addiction.
Finally, Guy also said that he keeps in shape by practicing Brazilian jujitsu five days a week, which is pretty impressive. He said that “it’s good for old men, because you don’t get your nose pressed in or your joints snapped.” Seems like you’d still get a bunch of bruises and arms twists though, nonetheless.
Sidenote and point to recall: Guy Ritchie and new leading lady, Jacqui Ainsley welcomed Guy’s third child, a boy, on September 5. To the best of my knowledge the baby’s name has not been released yet.
Guy Ritchie is in post production of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, which is due out December 16.
